What can I expect during our first session?

What can I except during our first session?

In order for the therapeutic process to work, there has to be a genuine rapport between therapist and client. During our first session, we make sure that we “click” or connect and that you feel comfortable with each approach. Also during our first session, we discuss what goals you would like to work on while working with me and ways in which we can measure progress. Lastly,  we go over all necessary paper work including a brief history/ personal information form, a disclosure statement (a document that informs you of your rights as a client), and an informed consent (which provides you with our credentials, fee structure, what to expect from therapy, etc.).  If by the end of this session you decide that my approach doesn’t fit your personality, needs or expectations; then we can gladly assist you in finding another counselor who you feel might be a better fit.
