EMDR

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing)

EMDR is a form of psychotherapy that enables people to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that are the result of disturbing life experiences.  Repeated studies show that by using EMDR, people can experience the benefits of psychotherapy that once took years to make a difference. It is widely assumed that severe emotional pain requires a long time to heal.  EMDR therapy shows that the mind can in fact heal from psychological trauma much as the body recovers from physical trauma, and in many cases, in a shorter amount of time.

Both Blake and Lindsay are trained in EMDR, which can be incredibly effective in helping to treat symptoms of:

  • Trauma/PTSD
  • Phobias
  • Complicated Grief
  • Disturbing Memories
  • Physical, Sexual, or Emotional Abuse
  • Panic Disorders
  • And many more!

"EMDR works to identify negative cognitions associated with negative life experiences and works to change those cognitions to reprocess that trauma to form positive thoughts and beliefs about oneself. Using bilateral stimulation (essentially the brains hemispheres working to communicate together), we work together to get to a resolution of the target stress. EMDR can be an intensive form of treatment and varies in the amount of sessions/time it takes to complete. However, EMDR has shown in many studies to help millions of people effectively process through various psychological stress."
